For Dr. Wolf, the most important aspect of his job is helping the people and families of this community. Being right here from Jenison, Michigan, he understands that creating relationships based on mutual respect and value is so very important. That is why, we strive to create and maintain an atmosphere that truly is family friendly!
Starting a good oral hygiene routine at a young age is important for many reasons. When children visit the dentist earlier in their lives they are less likely to be scared and are more likely to cooperate with our excellent dental hygienists to do their preventative care in the office. We love kids, and that is why we cater to providing positive experiences for children. We know that children that have good experiences in the dental office are much less likely to have dental problems as teens and adults.
Dr. Tyler Wolf and his team offer dentistry for the entire family, including children’s dentistry, dental sealants, and fluoride treatments.
Child Dentistry
Our top priority is your child’s safety and well-being. Dr. Wolf has many years of experience diagnosing and treating dental issues that children may have in their baby and permanent teeth. We do most child dentistry right here in the office.
However, sometimes there are reasons for referring children to a special child-only specialist called the pediatric dentist. These are cases when the child may need more extensive treatment, need particular care due to any special healthcare need, or we are simply feeling that the atmosphere of a ‘kids focused’ office might be the best fit for a positive outcome and experience.
Dental Sealants
A dental sealant is a thin, protective coating that adheres to the top of the teeth. Sealants can keep cavities from forming and can even stop early stages of tooth decay from developing into a full-blown cavity. There’s no substitute for brushing and flossing, but once a sealant is applied it will help to keep bits of food out and stop bacteria and acid from settling on the teeth, which is extremely important for children’s dental health. According to the CDC, children who do not have sealants have almost three times more cavities than children who have sealants.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments are used to prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. The fluoride varnish will be placed over all of the teeth to protect and strengthen tooth enamel, which is the outer coating of the teeth. It’s important to remember that although fluoride treatments overall improve dental health and reduce risk of cavities, they will not completely prevent cavities. Excellent home care is still needed.
